Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Agreement
By using Collate (the macOS app and the collate.one website), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Collate.
License to use Collate
Subject to these Terms and applicable store terms, Collate grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app. Collate and its original software, design, and branding remain owned by their respective owner. Third-party components and models are licensed separately as described below and in the Third-Party Notices.
Your content
- You are responsible for the PDFs, prompts, images, text, and other content you import or submit, and you must have the rights to use them.
- If you create a share link, you are responsible for what you share and who you share it with. Shared content may be accessible to anyone with the link. Do not share confidential or personal information unless you have authority and intend to make it available that way.
AI outputs
- Collate uses AI, including optional local Gemma 3, Gemma 4, Qwen, GPT-OSS, and Ministral models, to generate summaries, answers, translations, highlights, and related output. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, offensive, or misleading.
- You are responsible for reviewing output before using, sharing, publishing, or relying on it. You must independently verify important information.
- Collate is not a professional adviser and must not be used as a substitute for legal, medical, financial, accounting, employment, housing, insurance, public benefits, or other regulated professional advice or decisions.
- Do not represent AI-generated output as human-created or original if doing so would deceive others or violate applicable law.
Third-party model and runtime
Collate's local AI catalog includes model files from Google, Qwen, OpenAI, and Mistral AI sources, packaged by identified Hugging Face publishers and run through a llama.cpp-based runtime. Gemma 4, Qwen, GPT-OSS, and Ministral catalog entries are provided under the Apache License 2.0. Gemma 3 is provided under the Gemma Terms of Use. The app asks you to accept those terms before a Gemma 3 download.
Model publishers, hosts, packagers, and runtime contributors are not parties to these Terms and do not endorse Collate. Exact source repositories, pinned revisions, license text, and attribution are available in our Third-Party Notices.
Acceptable use
These restrictions are enforceable conditions of using Collate. When you use Gemma 3, the restrictions in Section 3.2 of the Gemma Terms and the incorporated Gemma Prohibited Use Policy also apply.
- Do not use Collate to break the law or violate others’ rights, including copyright, privacy, publicity, or confidentiality rights.
- Do not attempt to disrupt or abuse the website or any related services.
- Do not use Collate to generate, distribute, or facilitate harmful, deceptive, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative, violent, fraudulent, or malicious content.
- Do not use Collate to infer, collect, process, or share sensitive personal information without all rights, authorizations, and consents required by law.
- Do not use Collate to make automated decisions that materially affect a person’s rights, safety, employment, credit, healthcare, housing, insurance, education, or access to public services.
Email communications
We use macOS download-form submissions to provide the download and the product communications described beside that form. We use Windows waitlist submissions to notify you about Windows availability unless you separately consent to other messages. You may unsubscribe from promotional email at any time. Transactional or requested support messages may still be sent when needed.
Third-party services
Optional cloud AI, model hosting, web browsing, analytics, sharing, forms, app distribution, and updates rely on third-party services. Their own terms and policies apply. You are responsible for your provider account, API usage, fees, and compliance when you connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic key.
Disclaimers
Collate is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Third-party models, runtimes, hosting providers, and contributors provide their materials without warranties to the maximum extent permitted by their applicable licenses and law.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Collate and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or profits. We do not accept warranty, indemnity, or other liability obligations on behalf of Google, Google DeepMind, Hugging Face, ggml-org, llama.cpp contributors, or any other third-party model or runtime provider.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Collate means you accept the updated Terms.
